Ellendale’s is a tasty treat

IMG_0224 (2)

This Nashville restaurant is a special treat, especially if you sample their daily (lunch-time) gourmet buffet (I know, it sounds like an oxy-moron: gourmet and buffet?) On Sundays (and maybe Saturdays?), Ellendale’s boasts a brunch with an omelette bar that’s to die for. Where else can you choose pesto, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and such to contribute to your customized breakfast creation? These ingredients are also available as part of the daily pasta bar. I’d like to know who could resist the dessert of fresh strawberries dipped in warm chocolate sauce? This ain’t your local greasy spoon! (While I’m using horrible grammar, let me quote a television commercial and urge, “Don’t you buy no ugly truck!”)

We celebrated several birthdays this week for some special people, including my mom, Kay, Sharon’s mom, Lila and good friend, Linda Sparks. Pictured here is an iPhone photo of me and my Mom in front of the restaurant, which is located in a very old home. Have you ever been to Ellendale’s? If you plan to visit Nashville, you should consider going for their weekend brunch or their week-day lunch buffet. Let me know what you think.

  1. We ate a restaurant called Johnson’s Cafe in St. Mary’s Montana on the east side of Glacier National Park in September. It was home cooked food but of a different sort. Family dinner large enough to share for two people and Huckleberry Pie to die for!! The restaurant sat on top of a mountain with glass windows with a view of the mountains across from it and the river below. It was wonderful. We ate there two nights for dinner. Highly recommend it. You’d like it there with all your photo opportunities.

    • Sounds like a beautiful place to visit, Pat, and to take photos. I don’t recall having huckleberry pie before? I’ll have to remember this place if we ever return to that neck of the woods.
