Acappella to appear in Riesel and Saginaw, Texas this weekend

SSCP0025“Sing it like you mean it!” Last evening, a brother told me he was so tired of song leaders who lead singing with absolutely no passion or energy.  I say, “amen” to that.  Song leaders should inspire with contagiouis enthusiasm.

Speaking of contagious enthusiasm, have you heard Acappella lately?  Their energy level in concert is off the charts!  Talk about “Sing it like you mean it!”  These guys are the epitome of god-centered enthusiasm.  Do yourself a favor and go see the guys as soon as you can.  Better yet, treat your church to this unique experience by hosting an Acappella concert in your area.

And the next time you sing, make sure you “Sing it like you mean it.”

  1. Someone recently tole me, “Your songleading is too crazy, You’re taking the focus off God and putting it on yourself.” I talked to a few other brothers and they said “Don’t worry about it.” But my question is how should I answer a question like this? Appreciate hearing what y’all have to say.

  2. I believe that as a song/worship leader, you are carrying a large responsibility. You’re taking on the role in assisting the members of the congregation in praising our God. As a worship leader, I believe that I should lead in a way that no one is focusing on me and that I should not be a distraction. I believe there are many ways to lead with enthusiasm and passion without making it appear as though the focus is on you, cause it isn’t. The focus is and always should be on God. So my answer to your question is: I believe that you should always take into consideration what your brothers and sisters who question your way of leading have to say. Place yourself and their shoes and try to understand why they feel the way they do. Sometimes, it’s hard to see things from the congregational perspective when you are the one standing in the pulpit. We should always try to promote unity and peace within our congregations, and if that means figuring out a way to lead worship that is affective in a less-distracting way, then so be it.

    • I agree that the focus should not be upon the leader, and that peace and unity are very important. However, I stand by my assertion that far too many song leaders are leading worship in a dry, cold and emotionless manner.

Jesus did not necessarily curb his words when He knew they might offend someone.

If the passion to worship God is authentic and genuine, then how dare we squelch that enthusiasm because someone else may not like our passion? Do you think the crippled beggar of Acts 3 constrained his enthusiasm once he realized his deliverance? He praised God with all that was within him.

I’m simply saying, we need leaders who set the tone and truly model passionate worship; those who understand the great salvation they have received. Much greater than the cripple man being able to walk — once we were lost but now we’re found, were blind but now we see!

      Praise God.

      • Thanks a lot! I apperciate both of your input!

        • If your heart is to worship Papa and you are focused on simply ushering in His presence then to those that question you I would simply respond with this statement: ‘Thanks for your input.” Smile, and walk away. If you are at a place that you constantly get these type of contacts I would suggest you explore what other opportunities there are. The worship we offer should be healing the sick and raising the dead. There should be such a presence ushered in when we worship that people are dancing, lifting hands, being healed and being empowered with spiritual gifts!
that is what we must start expecting during the power and presence of worshipping our Creator. If anything less is happening then something isn’t right.
