My guess is, most people will describe drivers in their local areas as rude and inconsiderate. However, having traveled quite extensively, I can see an immense difference in some Southern towns (for instance) when compared to a major Northeastern city like Boston. I would have to say that I’m amazed by how many people in Nashville will courteously allow you to pull in ahead of them in traffic, unlike other cities of equal size. Of course, every place has rude drivers, but I’m asking you to compare “overall.”
It depends When I am driving a Big truck people are nice.until rush hour no one wants to let a 70′ truck in front of them then it takes off slow. Not understanding that the truck driver (Me) will pass them up down the road later.
Having grown up in Southern California, and lived in Phoenix, Arizona for over 20 years, I can say that California drivers are more curteous than Arizona drivers (probably because everyone in Arizona is from somewhere else, and they bring all their bad driving habits with them). But, I currently live in Abilene, Texas. And, the drivers here are wonderful! People still wave at you pass them, stop to help others on the side of the road, will let you merge when you need to, and are overall very nice people. The only complaint I have about Abilene drivers would be that they think red lights are suggestions instead of the law.
You need to experience “small town, USA”. . .where everyone waves to you whether they know you or not, and we carefully watch out for the seniors who haven’t let go of driving, (even when they have to ask who you are face to face coming out of the post office!) With no stop lights, and only a few 4 way stops in town, we are all pretty easy going! We’re still waiting for your visit to come see us here in Crosby, ND! Tell the “Classics” they are welcome to join you. . .I promise brownies for all!!
