Poll: What City would you add?
Poll Tuesday, September 7th, 2010
Here’s a shot in Westminster, near the Parliament buildings, the clock tower and other famous landmarks in London. What major cities do you enjoy visiting? There are some outstanding cities that top my list for many different reasons. San Francisco has remained at the #1 slot of my all-time favorite cities for the longest time, but has now been eclipsed. After the recent visit to London, England, this amazing city has made it to the top of my list.
All of us have different reasons for enjoying major cities: history, sight-seeing, entertainment, dining, experiencing the markets, cultures and local activities. Of course, in my case, photography is very important.
In fact, I upgraded to the iPhone (which features an HD video camera) and took this video from my iPhone camera and edited it in iMovie. Check out the London Evening Cruise.
I hope this video captures the special ambiance of hearing Big Bend ring while watching the infamous double-decker buses scurry across the Thames. You can hear the bag pipes playing on the bridge for passers-by. The London Eye has become a center piece of many of my photos. Although I’m a still photographer, I enjoyed using my phone to capture the boatman’s comments about loving their “colonial friends,” including Tennesseans — known for displaying backbone. The cruise ends near the Tower of London and the famous Tower Bridge.
Here is my latest list of major cities I enjoy visiting:
1. London, England
2. San Francisco, California
3. Tokyo, Japan
4. Sydney, Australia
5. New York, New York
6. Edinburgh, Scotland
7. Melbourne, Australia
8. Washington, D.C.
9. Vancouver, British Columbia
10. Boston, Massachusetts
Of course there are so many cities we have not visited yet (Paris, France comes to mind). There are also numerous fascinating cities that approach my top ten, but didn’t quite make the list.
POLL: What major city that’s not on my list would be at the top of your list, or at least in your top ten? Leave a comment and perhaps share why you enjoying visiting that city.object>

Carnes, Australia and Salzburg, Austria would be on mine, as well as Vienna, where the evening street walzes are every woman’s dream.
I have never been to those places, Anne. Although, our youngest daughter studied in Vienna and has made it sound like a magical place!
Good choices Keith. I think an Asian tour,..Tokyo, Beijing, and Hong Kong would be very successful. Maybe round it out with Manila. Asian people have a real appreciation for the harmonies and quality of your music and it would be well received.
Keith,
The video of London was awesome! You captured quite an essence of the city that I have forgotten about. It doesn’t look like the city I live in! Or perhaps I’ve just come to take it for granted how lovely the city is. I do get all wrapped up in the history of it but you’ve captured quite a romantic aspect of the city I’ve forgotten about. It’s nice to be reminded how visitors view the fascination and wonder of London. Living here for almost 7 years, I have forgotten how wonderful it can look.
However, and maybe it’s because I live in London, it doesn’t top my list of favourites. Rome has been one of the places I will never forget. I love that city. To walk amongst the ruins of the forums, stand in the middle of the Coloseum, and to be in the prison where the apostle Paul was kept, was a soul-invigorating experience. There is/was so much christian history in Rome that is both wonderful and sad and it filled my heart with a mixture of feelings.
Krakow, Poland was another. Again, it too is filled with so much history both wonderful and sad. It was here where Oskar Shindler had his factory that saved so many Jewish lives. It was here where many Jews were rounded up and put into Ghettos. It reminded how cruel and kind people can be. It’s a city that once again touches my heart. —– Sarah
In the US I might add Seattle, WA – Jackson Hole, WY and San Diego, CA.
