AVB Sings “Accept One Another”AVB, Spiritual Topics & Discussion Monday, September 23rd, 2013
Romans 15:7 “Accept one another then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” Before the “Boy Band” craze became widely popular, AVB was reaching young audiences with a contemporary sound and biblical message. In this concert video, AVB sings, “Accept One Another.”
You can follow regular posts of my favorite quotes on my Facebook/Musicianary page. One recent quote goes like this: ““The Gospel is an announcement not an argument. You share it, not shove it.” This quote hits home to me. Hi, my name is Keith, and I’m a recovering legalist.
I can remember when I believed that sharing the Gospel (which by the way, means “good news”) consisted solely of debates and arguments. I never fully understood the fallacy of this approach until countless judgmental guns were pointed toward me for launching a singing ministry that pushed boundaries.
The AVB album, “What’s Your Tag Say?” is a testimony of our struggle in dealing with these issues. Back in college, my wife, Sharon, was given a failing grade because she memorized from a version other than the King James. No doubt, this contributed to the motivation of the song, “Growing Up With King James.”
To make a long story short, we have come a long way from that type of thinking. I pray that I will always take Romans 15:7 to heart, and be sensitive of others.
As the founder of Acappella Ministries, I’m so very proud of the numerous alumni of Acappella, AVB and our ministry who are now worship ministers. This classic AVB video features my nephew, Brishan Hatcher, singing the lead. He is currently serving as a full-time worship minister in Memphis, Tennessee.
John Green, the vocalist with glasses, wrote the song, “Give Thanks To The Lord,” which is widely used in our Praise & Harmony ministry around the world.
Notice the talented and hip bass vocalist donning a hat in this video? It is none other than the current Acappella bass, Wes McKinzie. What a trip down memory lane!
