Taken around 25 years ago during the concert song, Shut De Do, Rodney Britt displays some dramatic expressions to accentuate the song’s message. How many of you heard the song live when AVB was singing back up for Acappella?

Here is a photo taken at Acappella’s 20th anniversary at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Pavilion in 2002. Pictured left to right: Keith Lancaster, Gary Moyers, Jerome Williams, Wayburn Dean, George Pendergrass and Duane Adams. This combination was singing the song, “He Gave Her Water.” I got to sing this song last month with Acappella at ACAFEST at an outdoor concert at the Allen Bell Tower, just before Lipscomb’s major fireworks display.

We are already collecting song suggestions and ideas to begin planning the 30th anniversary in the summer of 2012. We will be inviting all singers from across the history of Acappella Ministries to join us for this celebration in Nashville, Tennessee. Here’s Acappella, class of 1985. Why is this shot taken in front of the Miami Vice sign in a Johannesburg shopping center? The simple answer is this – 1985 was the year that Acappella drastically changed the concert clothing. It was quite a radical shift to transition from three piece suits to a contemporary “Miami Vice” motif. As we passed this sign, Rodney Britt and I could not pass up the opportunity to reminisce.
