Here’s a video of me leading congregational singing along with Acappella on our tenth anniversary in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wow – It’s hard to believe that our tenth anniversary was twenty years ago!

I sure hope you can join us for our 30th Anniversary, June 30 – July 3 in Nashville, TN at Lipscomb University. There will be many concerts as well as some outstanding congregational singing.

Networking with Worship Leaders

Throughout the Praise & Harmony weekend, we were able to explore various ways of seeking excellence through a customized strategy for this particular congregation. If this is true, then why do I have such a difficult time in motivating song leaders to smile? As song leaders “set the tone” in leading others, why do so many faces contradict the words they are singing?

Booker Murphy Leads with Passion

Laurel, Maryland to host Workshop on April 30

Pictured: Minister, Michael Ray with Laurel song leaders. – Sharon and I have been blessed to work with the Laurel Church of Christ on three occasions. One of the visits was solely to work with their song leaders. We are excited to be able to work with this growing congregation. Recently, they have shifted to two morning services. Michael points to the song leader clinic as helping to prepare them for this step.

Leading Worship at Summer Celebration

I was triple booked on the last day of Acafest. In the morning, I conducted a Praise & Harmony session with a class of singing and worship enthusiasts. The singing was fantastic! In the early afternoon, we sang quite a bit during the three-hour Extravaganza concert. After Lipscomb’s picnic, I led worship for the crowd in Allen Arena, in spite of a very tired voice. I’m thankful that my philosophy of worship leading does not depend upon voice quality, but rather upon the ability to mobilize worshipers to participate. In retrospect, I probably wouldn’t have planned the song, Awesome God (which requires some leader vocalization), although, it sounded great — hearing all the parts ring throughout the arena. I hope you can make vacation plans to join us next year for Lipscomb’s lectures, fireworks, picnic along with ACAFEST. Next year’s dates are June 29 – July 1, 2011.
