Photo of the week: Family Concert in Mito, Japan

DSC04075

I love this photo of our four children singing in Mito, Japan.  If you look closely, you’ll see the blue slippers they are wearing, as everyone leaves their shoes in the foyer and wears those slippers into the auditorium.  From the left: Allison, Melissa, Kimberly and Anthony.

Celebrating the universal languages of music and worship

Here’s a shot of our family celebrating the wonderful days we enjoyed ministering to and fellowshipping with the Mito church.  Judging from the tears, smiles, joy, laughter and all the comments, we are thrilled to witness how God used this trip for His glory.  The precious brothers and sisters in Japan will not be forgotten [...]

Mito Art Gallery and unique, towering sculpture

The sculpture on the right of this building in Mito, Japan can be viewed from all over the city.  Here is a photo that is not an HDR, but a regular photo (yes, I can still take normal photos.)

Our very first bi-lingual Praise & Harmony workshop

Check out the gallery here of some shots of our Praise & Harmony workshop in Mito, Japan.  This happened to be our very first attempt at conducting a complete workshop in two languages.  With the Japanese translation and the invaluable musical assistance of Michael McClain, the workshop in Mito was very fruitful and received with [...]

Brand new evening HDRs taken during the holidays

Here’s a link to some brand new HDR photos I have added to my favorites gallery.  I enjoyed the Christmas lights of Mito, Japan, and especially photographing the art museum’s highly unique sculpture.  Do you see the Century 21 sign on this Japanese street?

Welcome to our friendly church

This is Atsushi Tsuneki, Minister for Mito Church of Christ.  He did an outstanding job of translating the Praise & Harmony workshop and in promoting the weekend outreach for the Mito church.  Atsushi happens to hold a black belt in karate.  I coaxed him into striking this pose, so I could post this photo which [...]

Christmas in Japan

Lancaster Family Concert: Merry Christmas from Japan

Photo by Stephanie Harding – – It’s difficult to believe that this is the very first Lancaster Family concert.  Of course, all of us sing with various groups and combinations, but Mito, Japan was the location for the very first offical Lancaster Family concert.  Melissa did an amazing job of rehearsing the family and putting [...]

Celebrating Christmas with a candle light service in Japan

DSC04108

The service began with a prayer and congregational singing.  The Lancaster Family presented a concert, including Christmas songs and some songs in Japanese (courtesy of the coaching of the talented, Michael McClain.) There was a message presented and a candle light service.  The evening concluded with a rendition of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”  What a memorable [...]

Mito, Japan: December 2009

AcaJapan2005Trip (21)

Our last Praise & Harmony workshop for the year 2009 is scheduled in Mito, Japan.  In addition to the workshop, the Lancaster Family will be presenting a Christmas concert for outreach with the Mito church.  We have been rehearsing some songs in Japanese, although most of our music is in English.  Michael McLain has been [...]
